Levels

You can choose between 4 levels.

Please read carefully the descriptions to discover which level suits you better.

  • VINSANTO

In this track you will refresh the playfulness of Pure Bal and Bal Swing fundamentals, transition steps and ad-libs. You will focus on communication between Lead and Follow through fun material that the instructors have prepared for you.

This track is for fresh/rusty Balboa dancers who…

  • have been dancing Balboa for at least one year

  • are starting to improvise with the music

  • are good at dancing Balboa but want to learn the opposite role

  • are able to mix various of moves all way through this song (186 BPM) - listen and dance to the song.

  • CHIANTI

More creativity, fun tricks, playfulness and new movements - this track offers a perfect opportunity to smoothen out your Balboa, expand Lead/Follow technique and work on improvisation.

For dancers who…

  • have been dancing Balboa from two to three years

  • danced Balboa for a long time but are stuck with their progress

  • are comfortable dancing in closed position and have solid rhythm

  • have started creating more complex Bal Swing moves

  • are comfortable to dance this song (218 BPM) - listen and dance to the song. If the song makes you uncomfortable executing Bal Swing variations, then we suggest that VINSANTO track might be better choice for you.

  • BOLGHERI - auditions

There will be auditions, so that instructors will review the level.

At this point your improvisation might be at a high level; your knowledge has expanded into a wide spectrum of moves and footwork. There might also be a feeling that your Balboa is still rough at the edges and you wish to smoothen that out.

For dancers who…

  • have been dancing Balboa from three to five years

  • are ready to dive into fundamentals again

  • want to become more slick with their footwork

  • want to be clearer in your body dynamics and faster in L/F communication

  • are comfortable to dance this song  (232 BPM). If the song makes you uncomfortable with its playfulness, then we suggest that CHIANTI track might be better choice for you.

  • BRUNELLO - auditions

There will be auditions, so that instructors will review the level.

Here partnership and individuality take place. You will focus on musicality, aesthetics, detailed mechanics, complex movements and other fun material that instructors will prepare for you. Beside of physical practices, students should be open for open discussion that instructors might bring in for necessary material.

For dancers that:

  • have many years (more than five) of workshop and regular social dancing experience

  • are interested in show, competing, instructing - or have a desire to do that in the future

  • are willing to take risks

  • are able to "steal" new moves fast and make them part of their own variation

  • are balanced and have spinning under control

  • dance Pure Bal with comfort and execute a variety of Bal Swing moves at middle-fast tempos (190-240 BPM). Listen and dance to this song (up to 230 BPM) - and try to dance it out. If the song makes you uncomfortable executing Bal Swing variations, then we suggest that BOLGHERI track might be better choice for you.
